Community Center of St. Bernard in Arabi, to hold Holiday Celebration 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 1107 Lebeau St .

The Community Center of St Bernard at 1107 LeBeau St in Arabi will hold a Holiday Celebration 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23, with carols, snacks, a tree to trim and a visit by Santa Claus for children.

Anyone with a child (age 12 or under) who would like to receive toys, please contact our Distribution Director Jason Horwitz at (504) 281–2512 during Mustard Seed Distribution hours on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on or before Dec. 20.

Toys Needed

Community Center officials are seeking toys for children 12 and under. “Unfortunately this year the help and support we rely on to meet holiday needs has been much less than in previous seasons, even though the number of families we serve has increased as more residents have finally come home,’’ said Community Center head Iray Nabatoff. “Right now we urgently need toys for children ages 12 and under (or gift cards and funds) so that we will be able to distribute presents at our Holiday Celebration on Dec. 23. Your donation is very important to help us bring a Merry Christmas to local children’’

Donations are tax-deductible, he said.

New Phone Number Reminder

The Community Center has a new phone number at (504) 281–2512 and the fax is (916) 675–7827.

Holiday Shopping

If you and your family do your holiday shopping online, remember hundreds of merchants like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Staples, Gap, Old Navy, Sears, Macy's, eToys, eBay, Vons and more will donate part of your purchase price to the Community Center-- and it won't cost you anything! Just go to http://ccstb.maatiam.com first, then click through to your favorite websites using the logos there to do your shopping as usual.

Remember, you don't have to sign in at http://ccstb.maatiam.com unless you want to -- you just need to get to your online stores by clicking the links there so that your purchases get counted for the Community Center!

Enjoy Some Videos from St Bernard Parish!

Thanks to everyone who sent us links to their YouTube videos! We've added lots of them to our Favorites at our YouTube nonprofit channel at www.youtube.com/ccstb. Stop by and check them out — you may  see someone you know! And remember, we're always looking for more great videos about St Bernard Parish. They can be about the hurricane, the recovery, what you think about the latest elections, Chalmette High School , local news and events, or pretty much whatever.

If you're already on YouTube, send us an email letting us know about your videos so we can add them to our favorites. And if you're not, we'd be happy to transcode and post any video you already have made. We're also interested in doing video interviews with current and former parish residents, so if you have something you'd like to say to the camera, please let us know!
