ST. BERNARD PARISH CHOOSES NEW SLOGAN
Slogan to embody parish’s spirit and to be used in marketing
campaigns
St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro,
Jr. announced the new parish slogan this week after reviewing
more than 90 entries from current and displaced residents of St.
Bernard, all expressing a love of community and appreciation for
the area’s history and family ties.
"I was extremely pleased by the participation,”
Taffaro said. “The slogan that we selected embodies our true
mission in St. Bernard Parish.” The winning slogan submitted by
Danny O’Neil Jr. of Meraux is “St.
Bernard Parish: Historic Past, Promising Future.”
Taffaro said it was important to get input from
residents excited about the recovery that could look forward
beyond this initial rebuilding period.
O’Neil, a design consultant for trade show
exhibits, agrees. He and his wife and three children moved back
shortly after the storm and he has helped with Thanksgiving and
Christmas food and “care box” give-a-ways to help those
struggling to recover.
He said slogan just came to him naturally over
breakfast as his wife Mary read the newspaper press release
asking for suggestions.
The slogan was chosen by a consensus of Taffaro’s
cabinet level administrators and approved by Parish Council
members. It will be erected on a sign being donated on Paris
Road by Sidney Torres IV of SDT Waste and Debris.
