In December, Fuel, the youth program created by St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, opened its doors at the Paul Noel Gym with afterschool hours for students in St. Bernard Parish. The Fuel Youth Center is opened from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at 210 Moreau in Chalmette. The Youth Center is open to all students in the sixth through 12th grades. Students have use of the gym for basketball, dodge ball or other sports, as well as the renovated upstairs that houses space for students to hang out with their friends, play video games on the Wii and Xbox 360, access the Internet, work on homework with their friends, or play board games.

The Youth Center has special hours during school breaks and also has a concession stand for students to buy snacks. Parents are asked to fill out one form upon dropping their child off for the first time. The form can be filled out at the gym when they arrive.
