Job Title: Fair Housing Coordinator (Office of Fair Housing)
Location: St. Bernard Parish Government – Chalmette, LA
Hours: 40/week, 8am-5pm (Full Time)
Education: High School Diploma; College Degree Preferred
Salary: Based on experience
Duties: (1) Coordinating fair housing training activities for elected officials and employees; (2) Promoting fair housing practices and ensuring compliance with all applicable fair housing laws; (3) Receiving and processing all housing discrimination complaints against St. Bernard Parish Government; (4) Disseminating information to the public pertaining to rental housing and rental housing development opportunities; (5) Disseminating information to the public pertaining to homeownership and affordable homeownership; and (6) Preparing bi-annual reports on fair housing activities in St. Bernard Parish.
The Fair Housing Coordinator (Coordinator) will maintain an independent office on the second floor of the Office of Housing and Redevelopment. The Coordinator will have unfettered access to all public records from the following offices: (1) St. Bernard Parish Council; (2) St. Bernard Parish Planning Commission; (3) Department of Community Development; and (4) Office of Housing and Redevelopment. Clerical assistance will be provided to the Coordinator by Office of Housing and Redevelopment staff as needed.
Additional Information: Pursuant to the United States, the applicant shall not have been a St. Bernard Parish Government employee, administrator, Planning Commission member, Council member or other member of St. Bernard Parish Government, between November 2005 and May 10, 2013. St. Bernard Parish passed an ordinance that requires all applicants to be residents of St. Bernard Parish Government or relocate to St. Bernard Parish within 6 months of accepting a position.
