Loyola University New Orleans College of Law announces its partnership with the Community Center of St. Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St, Arabi to offer free income tax preparation services and electronic filing services through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). The Community Center's location in the western-most part of St. Bernard Parish provides Loyola's VITA Program with access to the two areas most severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina; St. Bernard Parish and the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans.
The tax preparation and electronic filing services offered through the VITA Program are free and open to the public. Sessions will be held at the Community Center of St Bernard from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays: February 14, February 28, March 14, March 28 and April 4. No appointment is needed; however, residents are requested to arrive by 1:30 p.m. to ensure that their tax returns will be able to be completed by 2 p.m.

In order to receive assistance, taxpayers are reminded to bring photo identification and Social Security cards for each person included on their tax returns, as well as any W-2 forms, 1099 forms, Social Security statements and all other tax documents.
