VALERO MERAUX REFINERY DISTRIBUTES $20,000 IN FUEL CARDS TO

ST. BERNARD PARISH HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES

MERAUX, La., July 17, 2020 —Valero Meraux Refinery’s Leadership Team distributed 400 Valero fuel cards valued at $50 each yesterday to St. Bernard Parish Hospital employees. Each included a message that says, “WE ARE WITH YOU.” Valero team members thanked hospital employees for working the front lines during the COVID-19 epidemic.

“We know that hospital employees rely on transportation fuels to get to and from work as they respond to COVID-19 cases and protect our community,” said Vice President and General Manager Leslie Sullivan. “This is just one way for Valero to show our commitment and support to them as we continue to keep moving forward.”

Valero team members set up a tent in the parking lot of the hospital and stayed masked and social distanced as they handed each employee a gift card and personally thanked them. St. Bernard Parish Hospital employees were told that they would receive a small token of appreciation from Valero and were surprised with the actual gift during the presentation event. Recipients were ecstatic and applauded when they learned that it was a $50 Valero fuel card.

“We are so thankful for the support from Valero,” said Kim Keene, CEO, St. Bernard Parish Hospital. “To receive such a generous gesture from Valero’s leadership illustrates the important work our employees are doing at this time. Our doctors, nurses and staff are working tirelessly to care for the St. Bernard Parish community and this thoughtful gift is much appreciated.

So far, Valero Energy Corporation has donated $320,000 directly to COVID-19 relief in Louisiana as cases continue to rise. In addition to monetary donations in the communities where it operates, Valero earlier began bulk production of hand sanitizer at its Hartley, Iowa, ethanol plant. Valero Meraux Refinery had the pleasure of distributing hand sanitizer to local emergency response organizations in St. Bernard Parish.

Valero was recently named one of the 50 most community-minded businesses in America for 2020 by Points of Light, and has been making products that fuel modern life and giving back to its communities for 40 years.
