St. Bernard Parish Update – SEPTEMBER 21, 2020
Chalmette, LA – NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
St. Bernard Parish to hold a Public Meeting for the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
The St. Bernard Parish Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness is in the process of updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Parish. As part of this process we are required to hold public meetings on the plan update. A Public Meeting will be held on September 30, 2020 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the St. Bernard Parish Council Chambers, 8201 W. Judge Perez Dr., Chalmette, for all citizens interested in learning about and participating in discussions concerning the St. Bernard Parish Hazard Mitigation Plan.
A hazard mitigation plan describes an area’s vulnerability to the various natural hazards that are typically present, along with an array of actions and projects for reducing key risks to these hazards. While natural disasters cannot be prevented from occurring, the continued implementation of mitigation strategies identified in the plan will gradually, but steadily, make our communities more sustainable and disaster resilient.
In addition, all residents of St. Bernard Parish are asked to participate in a survey about public perceptions and opinions regarding natural hazards in the parish. The survey results will be used in the development of the plan. This short web-based survey can be found at the following link:
For more information, please contact: John Rahaim, St. Bernard Parish OHSEP Director at email@example.com.
Businesses can visit https://opensafely.la.gov/ and complete the quick process. They will receive the current life safety and COVID mitigation standards along with a placard to post. The business will then receive real-time updates on changes to include when opening is allowed for the specific type of business.
