St. Bernard Parish Update – February 2, 2021
CHALMETTE, La. - Biden White House Issues National Mask Mandate for Public Transit
A national mask mandate is now in place for individuals using any form of mass transit, including public buses.
President Joe Biden issued Executive Order 13998, Section 2, sub-section vi that requires all passengers to wear a mask at all times to reduce the spread of COVID-19 while on-board public transportation.
This policy is being implemented by the Federal Government to “to save lives and allow all Americans, including the millions of people employed in the transportation industry, to travel and work safely.”
St. Bernard Parish Government began requiring masks to ride its transit buses in 2020.
Businesses can visit https://opensafely.la.gov/ and complete the quick process. They will receive the current life safety and COVID mitigation standards along with a placard to post. The business will then receive real-time updates on changes to include when opening is allowed for the specific type of business.
