St. Bernard Parish Government adopted rules for the use of the multi-purpose trails at the Parish Council meeting of July 2, 2024. Trail rules signs will be erected at access points to the trail system over the next few months.
The Parish’s existing multi-purpose trails include the Val Riess Park Trail, the Palmisano Trail, the Mississippi River Trail in Meraux and Violet, and the Forty Arpent Trail (extending from Arabi to Violet).
Parish officials have been working closely with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office on enforcement of the new rules.
In addition to signage, the Sheriff’s Office and the Parish have also been working to install security cameras along the trail system. Funding for this work is supported by a generous donation by the Meraux Foundation to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office.
